The townsfolk of Nuneaton saw their first Carnival on Saturday October
18th 1930. Originally called the Nuneaton Hospital Carnival, it was started
to raise money for the former Manor Hospital which was situated along
Manor Court Road and was long before the birth of the National Health
Service.
The aim of the Carnival then, as it is still today was to have fun whilst
raising money for good causes, today Nuneaton Carnival donated to many
good causes throughout the town and remains strong, it is the largest
Carnival in Warwickshire and one of the largest voluntary organised town
Carnival’s of its kind in the country.
